Disappointed
Well UniBlue/Hillary...
It seems that LocalCooling has fallen by the way side and UniBlue has moved on. The number of problems with the program increase when Version 2 was released. Reliability of the program and the back end server(s) seems to have gone through the floor. UniBlue...it appears that LocalCooling has become a public relations nightmare for you. I suggest you shoot this dying horse before it further damages your company's image.
I am continually shocked by the lack of response by the LocalCooling team in this forum, and the lack of moderation. It seems that now the forum has been over run by SPAMers posting dirty ads. Implementing something like CAPTCHA would help cut down on that drastically.
Some of us have been faithfully standing by, and supporting/promoting LocalCooling. Your lack of response to posts, quality of product, and overall attitude towards your users reflects poorly on those of us who recommend your solution in the beginning helping you get to the number of users you have today. I believe there is a relatively known customer satisfaction statistic out there that says 1 happy customer will tell 3 people about the product and 1 unhappy customer will tell 10 people. I'm not sure if you will be able to recover from this.
Hillary, I'm sure you will say that you just didn't have enough help with the product, but I can tell you that you were offered additional help and turned it down. I still recall talking with you and your IT Manager George about me and my company potentially helping you out. You both originally said that you liked the idea, but then later changed your mind. Now look at the boat you are in. I'm not saying that I would have been able to fix the problems with your software reliability, but I would have made sure that my end of the deal was working and that any SLA was being met. I would have also offered to help starting to implement things like CAPTCHA to reduce Spamming in this forum, and would have leaned on some of your big promoters like Thalamus to help with it if they were willing.
I realize that you more than likely have an overwhelming job at UniBlue, but that is still no excuse. At some point you have to go to management and say that you can't handle anymore. Taking on more than you can handle and letting things drop (like LocalCooling) will only cause more damage to you and the company in the long run. If management doesn't agree, or does agree but won't act then I would take that as my que to move on to another company since it would be apparent that this company doesn't fully care about their reputation or yours. Remember everyone has to have a resume...what do you want to put on yours? That you ran PR for a company that ran a product with high potential into the ground and sat idly by as they did it, or someone that saw a management shift and a lack of customer focus and decided that it was time to get out before the ship sank?
Just some thoughts. Anyone else? Thalamus??
