Okay, so most of us have resigned ourselves to the idea that eco-cars will run a bit slower and be far less exciting to drive, not to mention a bit less attractive at the curb. We also know that without eco-cars the world environment will continue to suffer from greenhouse gas emissions. There is nothing like necessity to force us into compliance.
On July 28, 2009 Vincent Petit was riding his horse on a beach at Saint-Michel-en-Greve in western France. The beach was covered with an odd and smelly slime. The horse lost its footing and fell to the ground. The horse died immediately while the unconscious rider was rescued by nearby onlookers. The fall did not kill the horse; the fumes from the slime did. Other residents have been treated at hospitals after breathing the contaminated air.
Wait a minute. China is already the world’s largest producer of greenhouse gases and expects to triple its liquefied natural gas demand over the next 10 years, but also claims to be working to reduce carbon emissions. British Prime Minister Tony Blair seems convinced that China is committed to reducing carbon emissions beginning in 2011.
PM Blair told news agencies that he believes reduced carbon emissions are at the heart of the Chinese economic growth plans. All of this in the shadow of a recently approved deal for ExxonMobil and PetroChina to export Australian Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to China in record-setting amounts.
